LIMNOS presented LIFE GREEN ADAPT and its Floating Treatment Wetlands during an online consultation. The session showcased good practice using a collection lagoon with floating islands for surface water and leachate treatment. LIMNOS led two presentations, including one on BGI for landfills by Urša Brodnik and another on Floating Treatment Wetlands by Anja Pugelj.

LIMNOS presented LIFE GREEN ADAPT with a focus on Floating Treatment Wetlands during the Horizon BIOREM kick-off meeting in Ljubljana from 27-29 May 2025. This networking opportunity ran alongside the Microbetech Innovation Workshop, bridging lab research and field applications in advanced bioremediation technologies.

Aarhus Universitet’s (AU) Carlos Arias delivered a keynote at the WEFE Nexus Conference in Egypt and the MENA region (13-14 May 2025). Organized by the SURENEXUS project, the event brought together researchers, policymakers and industry to explore water, energy, food and environmental challenges and opportunities.

On May 27, 2025, the UNESCO Chair on Sustainability at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) hosted a landmark event at Casa Batlló, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Biosphere-certified venue, as part of the LIFE GREEN ADAPT project, co-funded by the EU LIFE Programme (LIFE20 CCA/ES/001795). The LIFE GREEN ADAPT Global Event is set for May 27, 2025, at Casa Batlló, Barcelona. It aims to unite project partners and stakeholders to review climate adaptation progress and explore future strategies. The event focuses on collaboration, knowledge exchange, and discussions to enhance resilience against climate change.

On 9 May 2025, Álvaro Silva Teira of AIMEN presented LIFE GREEN ADAPT at Akademia Talks, hosted by the Bankinter Innovation Foundation in Madrid. The forum covered innovation topics such as climate change, water cycles, data science, energy and high-performance computing, providing visibility for LIFE GREEN ADAPT among key stakeholders.

AIMEN’s Álvaro Silva Teira presented LIFE GREEN ADAPT at a forum in A Coruna, Spain organized by C-Sink. The session highlighted project objectives and outputs, engaged stakeholders, and gathered farmers’ perspectives on innovative techniques for carbon sequestration in land. On 4 April 2025, ISLE hosted the 1st project Innovation Workshop, focused on lessons learned thus far from the design and implementation of liquid stream treatment technologies, bringing together members of the project Innovation Board representing investment, engineering, waste management and research fields. ISLE created a webinar based on the contents of the workshop and published a press release on the outcomes, both of which can be found in Resources.

In Valencia, Spain, LIFE GREEN ADAPT project partner Aarhus Universitet (AU) delivered a presentation on climate change mitigation through nature-based wastewater treatment during a keynote of LIFE RENATURWAT. LIFE RENATURWAT seeks to demonstrate the use of subsurface flow wetlands as a fine treatment in WWTPs in small towns, and to improve the biological quality of water to achieve renaturalisation.

Carlos Arias of Aarhus Universitet delivered an inaugural course of the Nature-based Solutions Master’s program at Universidad Tecnologica de Pereira. This course was dedicated to understanding the practical design and implementation of NbS such as treatment wetlands to perform ecosystem services, with particular reference to successful case studies including LIFE GREEN ADAPT.
