AIMEN presented the LIFE GREEN ADAPT project at Colegia Hermanos Quiroga (O Porriño) for the Day of Women and Girls in Science. AIMEN’s Paula Villar explained how treatment wetlands work while Luz Herrero showcased how LIFE GREEN ADAPT supports climate change adaptation. LIMNOS hosted an annual event for chemical engineering students where it demonstrated the real-world application of classroom concepts, relating specifically to the liquid stream treatment technologies implemented in LIFE GREEN ADAPT to manage contamination from landfill leachate.

On January 16th, 2025, LIMNOS hosted a student course and outreach event for chemical engineering students at the University of Ljubljana. The event aimed to connect academic theory with industrial practice, featuring interactive sessions, company presentations, and case studies, including the LIFE GREEN ADAPT initiative focused on climate adaptation and sustainable management.

Carlos Arias of AU delivered a training course to students in Colombia from 21-25 October 2024, taking place at the Universidad Militar Nueva Granada (UMNG). The course was titled “Curso de Saneamiento para Pequenas Comunidades” and integrated classroom teachings with the objectives and practices of the LIFE GREEN ADAPT project.

LIFE GREEN ADAPT released its 3rd Newsletter in June 2024. The publication discussed the nature of threats facing landfill imposed by climate change, how technical innovations in the project address these threats, and related engagement activities facilitated by the project. From 13-17 May 2024, AIMEN attended IFAT, the world’s largest trade fair for water, sewage, waste and raw materials management. The event, attended by CINEA, featured circular economy and water management topics, with key industry players presenting solutions through exhibitions, live demos and talks. LIFE GREEN ADAPT was among the EU-funded projects showcased.

The LIFE GREEN ADAPT project, co-funded by the EU, aims to enhance landfill resilience against climate change by implementing Blue-Green Infrastructures and ecosystem-based strategies. It focuses on reducing pollution from landfills, developing nature-based solutions, and improving water reuse and soil quality. Global Factor presented LIFE GREEN ADAPT at SARDINIA 2023, the 19th International Symposium on Waste Management and Sustainable Landfilling. The project poster showcased LIFE GREEN ADAPT objectives and its vulnerability risk assessment tool for climate-resilient waste infrastructure. Global Factor also submitted a paper on the symposium proceedings. The poster presented at the symposium and abstract are available in Resources.

LIMNOS presented the LIFE GREEN ADAPT project during an expert excursion in Flanders, Belgium in September 2023. A group of water specialists explored Flanders’ water management practices and learned from Aquafin deWatergroep, Fluves and Rietland BV.

AIMEN presented LIFE GREEN ADAPT at WETPOL 2023, highlighting liquid stream technologies designed to reduce contaminants in landfill leachate, demonstrating effective removal of organic and nitrogen compounds. The presentation delivered can be found in Resources.
